Morongo Valley Community Services District Board of Directors announce open Park Commissioner position

The Morongo Valley Community Services District Board of Directors have announced a vacant seat for their Park Commissioner position and have opened their call for candidates, intending to fill the seat by appointment on February 18.
Formerly occupied by Eva Rowles, who announced her resignation on January 13, the Park Commissioner seat will oversee operations at Covington Park.
When asked what the position entails and what makes the MVCSD unique, General Manager Brittany Chavez said, “The park commissioner is the person who is that centerpiece between the community and the Board. They are there for the community to to come to and bring ideas, whatever they want to bring to the park. It could be anything from a class to planting new trees or plants, so they would be there for support, to be their voice, essentially.
“The CSD oversees the Fire Department, Covington Park, and the streetlights. There’s not many CSDs like ours, which is parks and fire. Many of them have water and different things of that nature but ours is a pretty unique area, especially with the Preserve next to us and how rural it is down here, so the board plays a big role in the daily operations of everything the District oversees.”
For those interested in the position, you must be a registered voter in San Bernardino County, be a minimum age of 18 years, and reside within the District. Any person interested in being appointed to fill this Board vacancy must stop by the District Office and pick up an application or visit their website at morongovalleyfire.org.
Applicants will also be required to submit a 500-word essay describing their qualifications and why they are seeking a seat on the Board of Directors.
Applications and essays are due at the District Office no later than Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
