MBCA awards scholarships to three Morongo Basin high school grads

The Morongo Basin Conservation Association scholarships go to local standout students who have demonstrated commitments to include conservation or environmental interests in their education and career plans. Each $1,000 scholarship is intended to assist with higher education expenses.

The MBCA’s Conservation Scholarship was awarded to Landon Michael Stitt of Yucca Valley High School – he has career intentions of working in environmentally-conscientious urban planning and engineering.

The Women’s STEAM Scholarship – which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math – was awarded to Jadyn Sarah Bauer, the founder of Twentynine Palms High School’s Environmental Club. She has career plans for environmental studies.

Donations in memory of a renowned local artist, conservationist, and longtime MBCA member made it possible to offer the Steve Rieman Scholarship for students who want to incorporate conservation into careers in writing, fine arts, or design. Kylie Morning Adkins of Black Rock High School is the recipient, with her focus on nature photography and advocacy.

Congratulations to the scholarship winners, as well as all graduating students in the Morongo Basin.
