At the Copper Mountain College Board of Trustees Meeting on July 14, 2022 , Liz Meyer
announced that she intends to run for re-election to the Board of Trustees in the November
election. Meyer is a life-long citizen of the Morongo Basin, former Twentynine Palms City Councilmember, and the City’s first woman Mayor. She has served 17 years on the Board of Trustees of CMC.

“Over the years I have served as a Trustee, I have seen this college grow, not only as a campus,
but in the multiple ways we are serving as the Basin’s primary educational institution.
Community Colleges are the backbone of higher education, being affordable and accessible and
yet meeting all of the academic rigor of our State College and University colleagues.” Liz stated.
If she is re-elected, Liz will be placing an emphasis on re-building the sense of community on
our post-COVID campus, while concurrently meeting the growing needs of our distance learning
students. Liz said, “Our Board of Trustees is committed to promoting “100% Student Success”,
and if I am re-elected, I would continue to honor that commitment.
