Jury selected in Arthur Davies case, trial begins today

After over 5 years in the courts, the trial of Arthur Davies officially begins today.

A jury of 12 of Arthur Davies’ peers was picked yesterday afternoon after another long day of jury selection and the process of voir dire – where prosecution and defense can ask questions of the jury and dismiss potential jurors based on those answers.

The case has been awaiting a trial since Davies pled not-guilty to charges of Murder and Felony Assault on a Child Causing Death. Parker Lee Schumacher was 1 year-old when he was flown to Loma Linda University Hospital on February 10th of 2018. Schumacher later died at the hospital from his injuries.

With numerous delays and continuances, the case has remained in the San Bernardino courts, and both prosecution and defense questioned potential jurors to see if they had read or remember anything about the trial in the last five years.

The trial begins today at 9:30AM in the San Bernardino Superior Courthouse. It is expected to take 2 weeks and we’ll have complete coverage of the trial here on Z107.7 News.
