Among the many agenda items to be considered at tomorrow’s (Jan. 24, 2024) 10 o’clock meeting of county supervisors in San Bernardino, there is one item of special relevance to our Morongo Basin or more specifically to anyone who appreciates outdoor activity in Joshua Tree.
Supervisors are expected to accept a $3.7 million grant agreement with Caltrans to clean up, beautify, and provide improved recreational opportunities at Sunburst Park and Community Park. The project will improve the existing older playgrounds and park to make them more accessible, beautiful, and safe. Improvements include new paving, more Americans with Disabilities Act accessible pathways, shade structures, trash receptacles, upgraded inclusive playgrounds, a pump track, and lighting.
