Joshua Tree Shakespeare Company launches casting call for June’s production of “The Taming of the Shrew”

A new nonprofit theatre company is bringing Shakespeare to the Hi-Desert — with boots on. The newly formed Joshua Tree Shakespeare Company (JTSC), will launch its inaugural production this Spring with a Western-inspired adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew, directed by Molly Katelbach. Performances will take place at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center on the weekends of June 5–7 and June 12–14.
Founded by local creative professionals Brian Hennessy, Liz Wessel, and Michael King , JTSC was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission of producing high-quality, accessible Shakespeare while building a lasting cultural tradition in Joshua Tree and surrounding communities.
Auditions for The Taming of the Shrew will be held March 28 at High Noon at the 29 Palms Elks Lodge. Actors of all experience levels are encouraged to attend. Audition details and preparation information are available at: www.joshuatreeshakespeare.org/auditions.
Tickets for the June performances and sponsorship opportunities will be announced soon.
