Joshua Tree National Park announces trail closures at Cholla Gardens and 49 Palms Oasis

Joshua Tree National Park announced some upcoming trail closures. The Cholla Cactus Garden will be worked on from December to March by the JTNP trail crew, improving the conditions of the loop trail to make it meet the accessibility standards set by the Architectural Barriers Act. You’ll still be able to view the fuzzy horizon of the cholla gardens as you drive down Pinto Basin Road.

And the 49 Palms Oasis Trail will be closed Mondays through Thursdays as trail crews improve the hiking experience by repairs some structures on the trail. That’s also estimated to take until March of 2025. The Park recommends heading to the Oasis of Mara or Cottonwood Spring Trails to get your fill of fan palms.
