Jane Rodgers has been named Superintendent of Joshua Tree National Park.
Rodgers made the announcement live on Z107.7’s Up Close Show earlier today (August 4).
She had been serving as the acting Superintendent of the park since January, when David Smith announced he was leaving the position for a role in San Francisco.
Rodgers said, “I’m very excited to announce I’ve been named the permanent Superintendent of Joshua Tree National Park.”
When asked about her plans for the park, Rodgers said, “My first priority is continuing the legacy work that David Smith laid the groundwork for here. First and foremost is supporting employees, park partners and volunteers. Really continuing the partnerships we have here in the community.”
Before leading Joshua Tree Nationals Park’s operations as Superintendent, Rodgers served as the park’s Chief of Science and Resource Stewardship. She has been working at Joshua Tree National Park, on-and-off, sine 1994, with her current stint beginning in 2016.
Rodgers lives in Twentynine Palms with her wife and two dogs.
