Historic Rehabilitation tax credit sign-ups open for qualifying historical buildings and residences

California State Parks’ Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) announced that it will begin accepting applications for the State Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program on Jan. 6th of next year. California property owners can apply for the credit to rehabilitate and maintain property that contains historical buildings and qualified residences, retaining Californians’ link to the past while keeping historic buildings and homes relevant in the present and beyond.

The tax credit program provides a 20% credit for qualified rehab costs of a certified historic structure or qualifying historic residence, and there is a total of $50 million dollars available for allocation on a first come, first served basis.

If this sounds interesting to you – the state’s Office of Historic Preservation will be holding two virtual info sessions on eligibility requirements and completing the applications – the first is this Tuesday from 12:00 noonto 1:00 p.m., with a second info session in December.

You can find more info on the program at the Californis State Parks OHP page.
