The National Weather Service has issued a heat warning for the Morongo Basin. Taking effect this morning, the heat warning is expected to remain in place until Sunday evening. Temperatures are expected to reach over 110 degrees Fahrenheit in parts of the high desert, including Joshua Tree National Park.
If you must be outside during the day, wear light-colored, breathable clothing, and carry water. Check on elderly, disabled, and at risk-friends and neighbors. And remember that Pets are vulnerable to high temperatures too. If possible, bring your animals inside during the day, and leave them extra drinking water.
