How to get to Palm Springs Airport for $5 and less stress this holiday travel season

Listen here:

Holiday travel is ramping up, and with high gas prices and scarcity of Uber and Lyft in the Morongo Basin, consider our overlooked public transit system.

I was recently tasked with picking up my partner’s car at the Palm Springs Airport, and instead of transferring the burden to someone else driving me all the way to Riverside County, I took a chance on our own Basin Transit system for my first time. With a stop at the end of my street in front of Morongo Valley’s “Can-Do” Country Market, it was almost too easy, and right on time at 9:55am. Five dollars and a relaxing half-hour later, I had made it safe and swift to the airport and taken in scenery I wouldn’t have seen in a car with my eyes fixated on the road.

For those looking to commute from the Morongo Basin to Palm Springs for work or for play this holiday season, Basin Transit’s Park and Ride in Yucca Valley is also a convenient and accommodating option. Located at Kickapoo and 29 Palms Hwy, the Park and Ride offers a safe and spacious lot to park your vehicle for the day or overnight. Remember, that time commuting in our cars are often times we never get back—using Basin Transit, we can sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride however we like to pass that time.
