The volunteer program at Joshua Tree National Park is hiring a paid Community Volunteer Ambassador (CVA) intern! This position begins September 11, 2023 and will work full-time until around August of 2024.
Applicants are encouraged to apply before Monday, June 5th – this is when the first round of applicants will be reviewed and interviewed. The final deadline for applications is July 21st, 2023.
The competition between National Park Services sites for great applicants is fierce and sites often hire their Community Volunteer Ambassador before the application deadline.
- Weekly stipend of $500 (additional $65/week, if housing is not provided)

- Position is eligible for an AmeriCorps Education Award $6,345.00 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of the program

- Public Land Corps Hiring Authority, which provides access to more federal jobs
Requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
- Be 18-30 years old at time of service (veterans up to 35 years old)
- Attended some college, though a degree is not required
- Current driver’s license, safe driving record, and reliable personal vehicle
- 1-2 days of weekend work (Fri, Sat, Sun) are required but days are negotiable
- Available 40 hours/week September 11, 2023 – August 23, 2024
- Local applicants from the Morongo Basin or Coachella Valley are preferred
The 50-week CVA internship trains young professionals to support NPS volunteer program operations, building connections between NPS sites and their local communities. The Ambassador at Joshua Tree National Park will support parkwide volunteer program management, volunteer engagement, community outreach, and specific volunteer team operations. They will be involved in all volunteer opportunities offered by the park including projects and positions in natural resources, cultural resources, protection, fees, interpretation, trails, roads, and campgrounds.
