Flute Circle returns to Yucca Valley on Saturday evening

Old Town Yucca Valley’s Rainbow Stew will be hosting their monthly flute circle on Saturday (6/15) from 4PM to 6PM.

Believed to be invented by American Indigenous people, one narrative of its origin tells the story of the woodpecker pecking holes in hollow branches searching for termites; when the wind blew, people nearby would hear its natural music. Native American flutes are played by directing air into one end, though it is not strictly an end-blown flute, since the sound mechanism uses a fipple design using an external block that is fixed to the instrument, resulting in a two-chamber design.

Facilitated by Bill Shamhart, the circle is open to all ages, all skill levels from beginner to virtuoso, and all kinds of flute, Yucca Valley’s Rainbow Stew hosts this monthly flute circle to bolster community spirit and to inspire peace within and out. If you don’t own a flute and would still like to join, there will be flutes provided to those in need.
