Fire Safety Week, Tree Trimming Deemed Success by Fire Chief at MVCSD Meeting

Morongo Valley Community Service District Board members held their regular meeting at Covington Park last night (October 19th).

Last night at MVCSD’s regular board meeting. Fire Chief James Brakebill reported a successful Fire Prevention Week, prompting Fire Safety Week to be an annual event from now on for the high-risk area. Brakebill also reported a successful tree trimming in Covington Park, which will now be provided with annual trimming maintenance to avoid its recent accumulated negligence.

Two representatives from Smith Marion and Company gave a detailed and lengthy breakdown of the district’s audit draft, followed by approval by the board.

Fire Captain Ryan McEachen brought good news regarding the shuttered Covington Park kitchen, stating the health department has deemed it a “host facility with potential for catering options” as opposed to a commercial kitchen, and McEachen estimated $5000 to bring it back up to code.

Lastly, Fire Chief Brakebill has approved use for Covington Park for the Warren family’s reunion next year. Brakebill is waving the associated fees due to the Family’s donation of their landmark homestead land to the district.
