The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees will hold their regular 6:00 p.m. meeting tonight at Joshua Tree Elementary.
For the meeting’s agenda, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education Amy Woods will give a report on last month’s Flying Doctor’s free public clinic event, and Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education Dr. Gracie Gutierrez will give a presentation on the Dual Language Immersion Program that will give students instructions in English and Spanish.
There will be a policy update to require Learning Recovery Emergency Funds received by districts to be included in the Local Control and Accountability Plan, as well as a policy update to reflect NEW LAW which extends the prohibition from suspending a student for disruption or willful defiance, formerly applicable to students in grades K-8, to all students, with the prohibition being effective until July 1, 2029; in addition this prohibits a district from suspending or expelling a student solely on the fact that they are truant, tardy, or otherwise absent from school activities.
There will be a course outline for History of Rock & Roll for Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms High School, focusing on the development of rock and roll music throughout the twentieth century. Students will gain an understanding of basic music theory as it pertains to rock and roll, with special attention given to the way sociological, political, and economic conditions affected the evolution of this style of music.
Among action items, it’s suggested the board adopt Resolution #25-22 to authorize temporary borrowing (interfund borrowing) between MUSD funds for the 2025-26 fiscal year, as well the submission of a “Declaration of Need for Fully Qualified Educators” for the 2025-26 school year.
