Details Surrounding Cancellation of Morongo Valley CSD Meeting Emerge

After only scant details offered from the board, much of which led to unnecessary speculation by attendees, Z107.7 has learned there was clearer logic leading to the cancellation of the MVCSD meeting on Wednesday, April 19th.

With President Henning, Vice President Whitney, and Fire Commissioner Emory absent, many assumed it was a scenario of “no call, no show,” considering the three members are presently under scrutiny of a recall.

However, the day of the meeting, President Henning informed Fire Chief/General Manager Brakebill she would not be attending, leaving no mystery for her absence.

Z107.7 has also since been provided with time-stamped texts from Vice President Whitney to Park Commissioner Gorke, confirmed by Gorke.

From 5:56-6:13, Whitney informed Gorke he and Emory were stuck in traffic on the 10 freeway, giving her minute by minute updates of their progress.

At 6:12, Whitney’s last text informed Gorke his “phone was about to die,” leaving no further opportunity to give an estimated time of arrival.

With communication cut by mere circumstance, Tolbert made the call at 6:13 to cancel the meeting due to lack of legal quorum of three or more board members.

Gorke told Z107.7 there will be a special meeting scheduled to make up for the cancellation.
