The annual Desert-Wise Landscape Tour offered by the Morongo Basin Conservation Association is happening this Sunday, April 21, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. The public is invited to visit five home sites and one demonstration garden located in the Morongo Basin.
Each of the five homes featured on the tour offers a distinct and captivating perspective on desert-wise landscaping. These landscapes are not only creative but also water-conscious, showcasing a harmonious blend of native and drought-tolerant plants, innovative landscape elements, and art. Two sites stand out with their vibrant wildflower displays. Spanning the Basin from Yucca Valley to Joshua Tree and Twentynine Palms, these sites are a testament to the unique beauty and resilience of the desert. Detailed information and directions will be provided upon registration.
MBCA is introducing exciting new features to make the tour experience more interactive this year. Visitors will have the opportunity to create a small art project at one site, take home a liquid soil enhancement from another, and receive free cuttings and seeds at a third site. These hands-on activities are designed to enhance your understanding and appreciation of desert-wise landscaping.
Advance online registration is advised at MBConservation.org. Registration for MBCA members is $10, and non-members are $15. There are also options to purchase membership and registration.
A digital Tour Guide with descriptions and directions will be provided to online registrants, with printed copies available on the day of the Tour. On April 21, late registration will be available at Mojave Desert Land Trust between 9 am and Noon.
