Fentanyl is a highly potent synthetic opioid 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine.
Since 2018, fentanyl has been responsible for most drug overdose deaths in the United States, over 71,238 deaths in 2021. The County District Attorney’s office is using a unique legal strategy to charge a dealer who sells fentanyl resulting in an overdose death with murder.
