UPDATED: County Fire “Measure W” FP-5 info meeting cancelled

***UPDATE***

This meeting has been concelled for weather concerns

The mere mention of FP-5 or Fire Protection Zone 5 makes many property owners in our county see red, not because they don’t believe County Fire doesn’t need the special tax, but because the tax went into effect without the approval of most of those affected as required by prop 218.  Now, on the March 5 Presidential Primary Ballot, property owners will once again be able to vote on whether or not to keep the tax in place.

The signs are all over Morongo Basin and much of the county, “Vote No on Measure W.” Sponsored by the firefighter trade unions, the message asks property owners to vote against repeal of the tax.

A “yes” vote favors repeal of the tax. If that’s not completely clear, perhaps you belong at tonight’s 6 p.m. ‘Measure W “FP-5” Community Outreach Informational Meeting’ at Belfield Hall in Landers.

Presented by the Desert Region Fire Safe Council and hosted by the Landers Homestead Valley Association tonight’s meeting is your opportunity to gain insight, ask questions, and engage in discussions about Measure W “FP5”. Belfield Hall is on Reche Road just east of Landers Post Office.
