The Copper Mountain Mesa Community Association held their monthly meeting last Saturday morning.
The Board of Directors discussed how ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards must be met on all doors to the Community Center, with one key fitting all exterior locks, if possible.
Board member Kip Fjeld shared how on a cold and windy morning, 13 brave souls and a backhoe showed up to volunteer for the mammoth task of filling the many potholes on the paved part of Winters road in North Joshua Tree. In three hours, four tons of cold patch were shoveled, raked and pounded into those potholes; kudos and thanks to all those who showed up to help.
At the Community Breakfast last Saturday 132 guests were served a hearty breakfast, including coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice.
The Treasure room thrift store was bustling with eager customers and one of the guests declared it “a hidden gem”. It is open whenever the Center is open, and by appointment.
The USDA Community food giveaway only received half of the customary monthly food allotment. This will be shared amongst the twenty-four Families which show up every month.
The next disaster preparedness meeting is Tuesday April 15th at 6:00 p.m., at the Community Center. The guest speaker is Marjorie Smith.
A Big neighborhood clean up will be held at the Community Center, 65336 Winters Road in North Joshua Tree on Saturday May 10. Last year was a huge success: four forty yard dumpsters were filled with tires, appliances, e-waste and trash. Volunteers drove around with trucks and trailers picking up piles of tires and other waste to transport back to the Community Center for disposal by Burrtec. So, make a note:Saturday May 10th, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. until noon; or until the dumpsters are filled.
