Clean up at Giant Rock in Landers this Saturday at 9:00 AM

Another gathering to cleanup Giant Rock cleanup is happening this Saturday, February 1st, with the option to campout tonight in preparation for the day’s undertaking.

Hosted by Blightsights and Positional Projects, this Giant Rock cleanup is a “quick and dirty” version of their annual National Public Lands Day gathering to maintain the iconic site more frequently. Sponsored by Desert Cleanse Project, High Desert Keepers, the Landers Association, and other local organizations, the project has the option for participants to show up early at 3PM today to apply “Elephant Snot” (the adhesive that cleans graffiti off the rock) to let it rest on the stone overnight while camping in preparation for the 9:00 a.m. cleanup on Saturday. Besides cleaning trash and graffiti, the crew will also be sweeping for metal and nails. Bring gloves, hat, boots, and anything else to protect you from the elements.
