The Mojave Desert Land Trust Fall Native plant sale is coming this Saturday – an opportunity to do some good for the desert in more ways than one. All proceeds from the plant sale go on to support the Mojave Desert Land Trust – which has protected over 26 million acres of the Mojave and Colorado desert. And the plants you purchase and place on your property brings more shade to the hi desert, creating tiny ecosystems in air and soil which can help store carbon, convert carbon dioxide, and look amazing in the process.
You can’t go wrong planting native plants that produce some of the most beautiful colors found in nature – from the pale pinks and cool corals of the desert dudelya – or the bright yellow firework of flowers that the rubber rabbitbrush produces in the fall when other plants are more subdued.
Smoketrees, catclaws, beavertails and mallows are amongst the inventory of native flora awaiting you at the Mojave Desert Land Trust’s Fall Native Plant sale – popping off this Saturday starting at 10AM at the MDLT headquarters, just west of Joshua Tree on Hwy 62.
