Theatre 29 and director Charlie E. Parker are pleased to announce the cast for Theatre 29’s premier of the Shakespeare comedy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.
In the classic Shakespearean play Four Athenians run away to the forest only to have Puck the fairy make both of the boys fall in love with the same girl. The four run through the forest pursuing each other while Puck helps his master play a trick on the fairy queen. In the end, Puck reverses the magic, and the two couples reconcile and marry.
A cast of 18 enthusiastic performers composed of both new and familiar faces to the Theatre 29 stage have been selected to bring Parker’s magical, black light enhanced production to life. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” consists of two separate worlds, who happen to collide due to the mischief of fairies.
On the human side, we have Athenians, the Duke Theseus and his Amazonian queen Hippolyta, played by Kurt A. Schauppner and Catherine Inscore. Cast as the 4 young lovers are newcomers Charlie E. Parker and Andy Catlin as Helena and Demetrius and Adriana Reyes as Hermia, familiar face Andrew Perkins portrays Lysander.
Returning to the stage for the first time in about a decade playing double roles as Hermia’s father Egeus and Starveling is Jonathan Wegner. New face to Theatre 29, but a familiar voice to Z1077 listeners is News Reporter Heather Clisby playing Bottom. Also new to Theatre 29 but may be recognizable to audience members from Groves Cabin Theatre is Kevin Hayles playing Francis Flute.
Rounding out the comedic Mechanicals are familiar faces Joseph Rego, Samantha Stevens, and Tiffany Crocker portraying Peter Quince, Snug and Snout respectively. In our fairy realm we will see King Oberon played by Malcom Stanley-Wolfe, and his queen Titania, portrayed by local MUSD elementary librarian Molly Katelbach. The Fairy Robin Goodfellow, known most commonly known as Puck will be portrayed by Kallista Lanterman, and the trio of fairies Peaseblossom, Mustardseed and Cobweb will be played by Eva Musch, Izzy Wegner and Isla Keeran.
