Board of Education to approve tentative agreement between MUSD and the MTA at tonight’s meeting

The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees will be holding their regular meeting this afternoon at the special time of 4:30PM to accommodate their reorganization of the board before closed session, followed by regular open session at 6PM.

To reorganize the Board of Education, the Board will elect a new President, Clerk of the Board, District Representative for the County Committee on School District, and Legislative Representative. Superintendent Dr. Patricio Vargas will be appointed as Secretary of the Board. The organization will be followed by the First Interim Financial Report Work Study Session and will adjourn to closed session at 5PM.

For open session at 6PM, Director of Maintenance and Facilities David Daniels will provide information on 2022-23 Statutory School Facilities Report, followed by public hearing. 29 Palms High School Principal Michael Ruggiero and California School Employees Association President Mike Johnson will give their report from the National Student Safety and Security Conference.

The Board will conduct a public hearing on the Tentative Agreements reached with the Morongo Teachers’ Association, California School Employees Association, Management, Supervisory, Confidential and Contract Employees.

The Board of Education is requested to approve the tentative agreement between Morongo Unified School District and the Morongo Teachers’ Association, which will address Working Conditions, Evaluations, Class Size, Compensation and Benefits, and Term of Agreement.

Other action items include adoption of the 2024 Board meeting schedule, the adoption of various salary schedules, and contract addendums for members of the Board.
