BLOOD SUPPLIES AT HISTORICALLY LOW LEVELS

0

Blood supplies in the Hi Desert are at historically low levels – being counted in hours rather than days. Lifestream PR Specialist Dina Colunga says that COVID is still putting a damper on blood donations – along with a lack of high school blood drives which can account for up to 25% of donations during the school year. These factors have led to less blood being available in the county for emergency situations like major trauma or planned procedures like surgeries or organ transplants. All blood types are need, but Lifestream noted that “O” type blood – which is universally accepted by people of all blood types – is particularly low.

If you are interested in helping bolster the blood supplies here in the Morongo Basin, you can go to www.lstream.org or keep an eye on Z1077fm.com for schedules and announcements.
