Phone Scammers posing as FBI Agents targeting Morongo Basin residents

There is another phone scam being reported here in the Morongo Basin - this time the thieves are posing as agents from the FBI and are convincing victims that they owe money to the federal government. Elk Fire trial date set for two men suspected of starting Yucca Valley Wildfire

The two men suspected of starting the Elk fire back in May of 2022 appeared in court yesterday for an early disposition hearing, and had a trial date set for April 25th. Liam Stinson and Aaron McKeeman were arrested last year shortly after reports of a brush fire starting near Elk Trail in Yucca Valley. CMC Basketball games and Food Trucks in Joshua Tree today (Feb. 15)

Copper Mountain College’s women's and men's basketball teams play this afternoon (February 15) at a free event that will be bolstered by a number of food trucks. New Backcounty Backpacking permit system live for Joshua Tree National Park

Those who want to do Backcountry Backpacking in the Joshua Tree National Park can now obtain the necessary permits digitally as of February 1st. The new system will be fully implemented on March 1st, and as the park transitions to the new system during the month of February - backpackers can continue to self-register at the backcountry trailheads.
