Astronomy lectures and stargazing events at Hi-Desert Nature Museum Saturday (Oct. 8)

The Hi-Desert Nature Museum is hosting two astronomy lectures and a planet and star-gazing demonstration tonight starting at 4PM. Local Astronomer Stave Caron will be discussing how lights from our cities has changed our views of the night skies over the last 150 years, as well as what can be done to protect our starry skies from this preventable pollution so that our starry skies can be enjoyed for generations to come.

At 5PM there will be a presentation from the Caltech Exoplanet Technology Lab about how to spot a planet amongst all those billions of stars – and as the sun sinks below the horizon, Steve Caron will host stargazing in the Community Center Ballfield.

Participation for any of the Museum Spotlight programs will be offered on a pay-what-you-can basis. The Hi-Desert Nature Museum is located right off Twentynine Palms highway in Yucca Valley – you can find the location and links below.
