Arthur Davies trial delayed again, new trial date set for July 10

The Arthur Davies trial has once again been delayed – this time until a scheduled trial date on July 10.

The case has been in the courts for over 5 years, and the latest delay arrives on the heels of a previous continuance that was supposed to push the trial to this week.

Earlier delays came from Arthur Davies’ defense attorney Zulu Ali, who had previously stated that he needed more time to produce a court expert. That continuance was from September of last year, and at that time Judge Pallone said that he was concerned that if the defense wasn’t allowed to produce the expert, the case would be in jeopardy of having to be tried again.

Arthur Thomas Davies was 38 when he was arrested for suspicion of attempted murder after his girlfriend’s son – Parker Lee Schumaker was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center with injuries consistent with child abuse. The 1-one-year old was then flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he died while on life support – upgrading the charges to murder.

Barring any further delays or continuances, the five year old trial is set to begin July 10th.
