There is always plenty of art happening here in the high desert – and this weekend has packed in a lot of art openings, exhibits and events – here’s a rundown:
- A new exhibit celebrating the cultures of 15 different Native American tribes has opened at the Joshua Tree National Park’s visitor center in Twentynine Palms – that’s open during regular business hours 8:30AM – 5:00PM.
- The Black Rock Art Gallery’s new show “Static Equilibrium” started on Friday – it features a series of intaglio prints from artist in residence Koichi Yamamoto – the gallery is located at the Black Rock Nature Center in the national park and is open 7 days a week from 8am to 4pm.
- The Joshua Tree Art Gallery is continuing their HWY 62 Art Tours collective show – it features work from many of the artists participating in the tours – that’s at JTAG in downtown Joshua Tree and they are open from 9AM to 5PM on Saturdays.
- The 29 Palms Art Gallery launched their new exhibition last week featuring local artist Chloe Allred and Colombian-American artist Adriana Lopez-Ospina. The Gallery is open all weekend from 11am to 3pm
- Compound art gallery in Yucca Valley is hosting an opening reception for their new photo and painting exhibits – RISE/SET and Additional Subtraction – The gallery is open from 12 to 5 and the receptions start at 6PM.
