A man being sought for attempted murder after a Joshua Tree woman was shot May 23rd was located and arrested Sunday, June 5.
According to a press release, Deputies responded to a residence in the 61000 block of Oldeander Drive in Joshua Tree on, Monday May 23 for a report of a woman who was shot. Deputies contacted the victim and found she suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound. The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived.
Following up, investigators located evidence, interviewed witnesses, and positively identified the suspect as Justin David Mason, 21, of Yucca Valley. An arrest warrant was obtained June 1, alleging Attempted Murder.
Sunday, deputies responded to the 60000 block of Canterbury Street in Joshua Tree on an unrelated call, contacted Mason and arrested him. Additional evidence was located and seized from the location. Justin Mason was booked at the Morongo Basin jail for his Attempted Murder warrant and an additional charge of being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm on $150,000 bail. Justin Mason is now at West Valley Detention Center.
Responding deputies stopped an assault in progress and arrested a Yucca Valley man for suspicion of Attempted Murder Monday, June 6. According to investigators, at about 9:00 P.M. deputies responded to the 55000 block of Buena Vista Drive in Yucca Valley for a report of an assault in progress. Deputies contacted Gilbert Jimenez, 26, actively assaulting a man in the front yard. Deputies learned the assault had been going on for about 20 minutes. The victim sustained multiple potential life-threatening injuries due to the assault and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Gilbert Jimenez was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for investigation of Attempted Murder. He is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
