UPDATED 1:30 p.m. We have additional details on the traffic collision on SR-247 that left one man dead on Saturday (December 2).

The California Highway Patrol reports that at around 3:15 p.m, a Ford Fusion, driven by  Richard Peddicord, a 56 year-old resident of Hesperia, was traveling westbound on 247 east of Sante Fe Road. The CHP reports that, for unknown reasons, the Ford veered into the opposing lane and collided with a Freightliner semi-truck. Peddicord sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was uninjured, and no arrests were made. This traffic collision is still under investigation by Victorville CHP. Anyone with information regarding the traffic collision is urged to call (760) 241-1186.

The San Bernardino County Coroner has identified the deceased as Richard Peddicord, 56, of Hesperia. Z107.7 has reached out to the California Highway Patrol for further details of the collision. This collision comes at a deadly time for Old Woman Springs Road, also known as State Route 247. Four deaths occurred on the road near Olivine Road in Johnson Valley over the week of Thanksgiving.

The state’s road agency Caltrans is currently conducting a field investigation into the safety of the portion of the two-lane highway.
