Adult literacy tutoring available at Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley libraries

The San Bernardino County Library system has a one-on-one tutoring program for adult literacy that can benefit both the adults who are learning the essential skill, and the adult tutors who volunteer as reading coaches.

If you or someone you know is at least 17 years old and can speak basic english but still struggles with reading and writing, they can receive tutoring at the Yucca Valley or Twentynine Palms Branch libraries. Adult learners must read or write below a 7th grade level and be willing to meet at the library for tutoring 2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.

If you wish to volunteer to be a tutor, you must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Tutors must also commit to the 2 hours a week for 6 months schedule, participate in tutor training and orientation, and most of all – possess patience.
