It was a full docket in M2 on Friday Morning at the San Bernardino Superior Court in Joshua Tree. Accused child-murderer Arthur Davies appeared at what was supposed to be his final pre-trial hearing in a case that has taken nearly 5 years to come to a jury trial.

Arthur Davies was arrested in 2018 for the murder of his then-girlfriend’s one-year-old son. Since then, there have been numerous pre-trials and continuances. The jury trial was set to begin today, March 13th – however Judge Pallone – after meeting in chamber conferences with both defense and prosecution – says that Arthur Davies’ defense attorney Zulu Ali has made a sufficient showing for a need for a court expert – a search that has been ongoing since September of last year.

Judge Pallone stated that he’s aware of the length of time this case has been in the San bernardino Courts, and he is concerned that without allowing the defense to produce an expert, that they case would be in jeopardy of having to be tried again.

A new pre-trial date has been set for April 7th, with a trial-readiness date set for May 19th. If the defense produces no further delays – the jury trial for Arthur Davies is now set to start on Monday May 22. Judge Pallone stated that Davies’ defense team – who had been absent at the most-recent trial-readiness – said that they will be at the new scheduled dates.
