A Yucca Valley man was seriously injured by dog bites Tuesday. According to Deputy Wayne Greer, Travis Hood, 46, was teasing two bull dogs, who weighed 50 to 75 pounds each, with food when they attacked him in the 1700 block of Hilton Avenue in Yucca Valley. Hoodās mother, who is also the dogsā owner, was able to secure the dogs and Hood was able to get away. To reduce your risk of being bitten, never approach a strange dog. Donāt pet a dog, — even your own ā without letting it see and sniff you first. If a strange dog approaches you, do not scream, turn, or run. Remain motionless, hands at your side, and avoid eye contact. If a dog attacks, try feeding it your walking stick, jacket, purse, bicycle, or anything else you can put between you and the dog. And if youāre knocked down, curl into a ball and protect your ears.
