HIGH DESERT WATER DISTRICT STAGE 2 RESTRICTIONS

In response to California’s ongoing severe drought directors at the Hi-Desert Water District, last week voted to enact the district’s Water Shortage Stage 2 restrictions. The restrictions go into effect at the end of this week and are mandatory for customers of HDWD which serves Yucca Valley.

The Hi-Desert Water District Stage 2 restrictions overlay the Stage 1 Restrictions already in effect and include the requirements that decorative water features be recirculating and leak proof, water hoses have a shutoff nozzle, and landscape watering be confined to a user’s property with no runoff.

Washing of sidewalks and driveways is generally prohibited as is unauthorized use of hydrants. Customers are encouraged to use clothing and dishwashers only when fully loaded.

Added to these measures is the Stage 2 restrictions including repair of water leaks within seven days; swimming pools are to be covered when not in use; restaurants are to serve water only on request; landscape watering should be limited to three days per week; and only between 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. with some exceptions.
