HI-DESERT WATER CONSIDERS DROUGHT RESTRICTIONS, JOSHUA BASIN MEETS

At 4 p.m. today, June 1 in Yucca Valley, the Hi-Desert Water District board of directors will consider drought-related water restrictions. And in Joshua Tree, the gavel comes down for the regular meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District at 5:30 p.m.

Directors at the Hi-Desert Water District are expected to declare a Stage 2 Moderate Water Shortage which will put in force restrictions aimed at reducing demand. If approved the restrictions range from allowing only full laundry and dishwasher loads to be run, and a ban on hosing down driveways and sidewalks. Penalties for non-compliance could reach $100.

Down the highway, directors at the Joshua Basin Water District will consider the revised 2021/22 budget and the proposed 2022/23 budget. That meeting offers no public accommodations due to ongoing office renovations. Both meetings offer public participation by phone or on the Zoom platform.
