Z107.7 RADIO CELEBRATES 25 YEARS—AND YOU’RE INVITED

On July 15, 2014, KCDZ-FM radio, or Z107.7 FM, will celebrate an amazing 25 years of uninterrupted service. Since seven seconds after 1:07 p.m. July 15, 1989, Z107.7 has been continuously operating and has been an intrinsic part of the incredible changes, challenges, and progress in our beautiful, remarkable, and quirky part of the Southern California desert. Unlike many radio stations across the country these days, Z107.7 is locally owned by Twentynine Palms residents Cynthia and Gary Daigneault. Over the past 25 years, Z107.7 News and radio station has earned dozens of accolades from the Associated Press and local organizations for its coverage of breaking and local news, including the Landers earthquake and the Sawtooth fire. To commemorate this remarkable accomplishment, Z107.7 Radio is planning a very special anniversary celebration next Tuesday, July 15, and is requesting your participation. From 7:00 a.m. until 1:07 p.m. we will broadcast live from outside in front of our studios. Listeners are invited to stop by and say hi. Everyone who stops by will get some sort of swag, there’ll be drawings for commemorative bags of swag, and refreshments from Natural Sisters and Pie for the People will be available.

The recognitions and resolutions acknowledging Z107.7’s 25 years of service have started to come in, including a Proclamation from the Town of Yucca Valley, and resolutions acknowledging Z107.7’s remarkable service from the Hi-Desert Water District and Joshua Basin Water District. Z107.7 Radio recently received a proclamation from the Town of Yucca Valley, recognizing it for its 25 years of community service, including receiving several broadcasting awards: Station of the Year from APTRA, the Associated Press Television and Radio Association; the Mark Twain Award for Best Newscast; Reporter of the Year; Best Small Market Website; Best Editorial; and two Golden Mike Awards for excellence in news from the Radio-Television News Association. News Director Gary Daigneault was also inducted into the APTRA Hall of Fame. The Proclamation also recognized Z107.7 for its community service in disseminating important public information and contributing to the quality of life to Morongo Basin residents, and congratulated Z107.7 on its 25 years of service.
