YUCCA VALLEY WOMAN ACCUSED OF DUI AT NEARLY 3 TIMES THE LEGAL LIMIT

A 34-year-old Yucca Valley woman was arrested for driving under influence after she crashed into a power pole Tuesday evening. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Rachel Stevens was driving her 1998 Mercury about 7:30 when she crashed into a utility pole in the 6900 block of Lennox Avenue. Stevens then backed up and pulled into the home’s driveway, got out of her car and started walking toward Palisade Avenue. Stevens then went back to her vehicle, where the resident managed to take her keys away until a deputy arrived. Deputy Mike Cusack performed a field sobriety test on Stevens, who tested at .23, nearly three times the legal limit. Rachel Stevens was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, cited, and released. The power pole was not damaged in the crash.
