YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL PUTS PUBLIC SAFETY NUMBER 1, BUSINESS AND TOURISM AT THE BOTTOM
The Yucca Valley Town Council met in a strategic planning session Friday. Managing Editor said the session saw the council listing their priorities…
Public safety remains the top priority for the Town of Yucca Valley. That was the consensus at a strategic planning meeting held by the Town Council last Friday. When the Town Council and those in attendance at the meeting were asked to choose their highest priorities among several different lists of items, the Town’s motorcycle officer, juvenile officer, and animal control officer always received the most support, along with road maintenance. At the bottom of the scale, receiving the least support from those in attendance, were the Town’s swim program, the 4th of July fireworks, and funding for the Chamber of Commerce and Desert Regional Tourism Agency. The Town Council also spent time working on a vision statement for the Town; with Council Member Robert Lombardo absent, it was split 2-2 on two very similar version of the vision statement, which can be read here.

Version 1: Our range of community services and facilities; efficient infrastructure; safe and established neighborhoods; unique character; and diversity define our community and quality of life.

Version 2: Our community services, facilities, and infrastructure are efficient and meet our community’s needs. Our safe and established neighborhoods, unique character, and diversity define our community and quality of life.
