YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL MEETS: JUNK ON TOWN PROPERTY ON THE AGENDA

The Yucca Valley Town Council has a lot of items on its agenda for tonight’s meeting, but after recognizing the first recipient of the Spirit of Yucca Valley award, and an introduction to Detective Daniel Popa, most of the items are updates and reports. Managing editor Tami Roleff says one action item the council will be taking tonight is to explicitly prohibit people from leaving their junk on town property…

Over the last five years, it seems that more and more people think they can leave their personal belongings on town property, which interferes with other people being able to use the town’s facilities. Because the town doesn’t have an ordinance prohibiting such actions, it’s restricted in what it can do with the property. So the town council will be asked to approve an ordinance that prohibits the storage of personal belongings on town property. In other business, the council hear reports from: the animal shelter; the Revenue Measure Oversight Commission; the Sheriff’s Department on annual crime rates; and short term vacation rentals and TOT update. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the Yucca Room of the Yucca Valley Community Center.

Prior to tonight’s meeting, the council will hold a ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. for the newly renovated Paradise Park. The public is invited to attend.
