YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL BEGIN SHIFT TO BY DISTRICT ELECTIONS

The Yucca Valley Town Council held a special meeting yesterday. Managing editor Tami Roleff explains why…
The Yucca Valley Town Council met last night in a public hearing to begin the process of changing from at-large elections to by-district elections. State law requires four public hearings to allow residents time to give input on how they would like to see the district boundaries drawn. Last night’s meeting was pretty much pro forma; three residents—out of nine in attendance—spoke, with a couple urging that the businesses along the highway be separated into their own district. The speakers also asked to see maps, but the demographer won’t present any maps until the next meeting on March 26, although maps will be available for viewing on the town’s website next week.
