Recreational marijuana will be the main topic of discussion at tonight’s meeting of the Yucca Valley Planning Commission. Commissioners have been directed by the Town Council to draft regulations prohibiting all marijuana uses with the town, and to establish regulations for the indoor personal cultivation of marijuana. Prior to the public hearing, the commissioners will be asked to grant a variance for encroachment on property setbacks for a home to be built on the northeast corner of Hermosa Avenue and Cortez Drive. The other item for discussion is a conditional use permit and environmental assessment for a new business at Mohawk Trail and Highway 62. The business will be a drive-through car wash, a free-standing pet wash station, and vacuum and detailing spaces, along with a 400-square foot retail sales building. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the Yucca Room of the Yucca Valley Community Center.
For those who can’t attend the meeting, public input may also be submitted in writing to the Town Clerk until 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 14. Comments can be dropped off at Town Hall or submitted by email to: [email protected]. The audio transcript of the public hearing may be accessed on the Town’s website at: http://yuccavalleyca.iqm2.com/Citizens/default.aspx (click on video link for the March 14 Planning Commission meeting.)
