YUCCA VALLEY PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVES JOSHUA SPRINGS EXPANSION

In a presentation last night that Yucca Valley Planning Commissioner Chair Steve Whitten called “death by PowerPoint,” the Planning Commission heard the history of the original 1995 application for a conditional use permit by the Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel. Over the years, the permit application has been modified extensively. Last night, the church requested a conditional use permit for a 400-seat amphitheater, 1,100 square foot classroom, concession stand, and an additional 28 parking spaces. With a full house made up of Joshua Springs students, the Yucca Valley Planning Commission spent an hour and a half on the church’s revised application before approving it unanimously. The commission then made short work of the requests by Sage Estates to build a complex of five model homes, and to approve a one-year-time extension for a tentative parcel map to subdivide a 2.5 acre parcel on the southeast corner of Prescott Avenue and Highway 62 into three commercial lots.
