A Yucca Valley man was arrested Sunday night, accused of possessing a cane sword while on probation. A Sheriff’s report said a deputy made a pedestrian check on Kenneth Ames, 40, about 11 p.m. at Linda Lee Drive and David Avenue. A records check showed that Ames was on felony probation for a 2013 conviction of possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm. During a search of Ames, the deputy found methamphetamine and a cane sword, both of which are prohibited by the terms of Ames’ probation. Kenneth Ames was arrested for investigation of possession of a cane sword and for violating the terms of his post-release community supervision. He was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail.
