YUCCA VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF CHILD ABUSE

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Monday, accused of hitting a child so hard the child sustained bruises. According to a Sheriff’s report, mandated reporters called the Sheriff’s Department about 4 p.m. Monday to report that a young child’s forehead was bruised. Deputies went to a home in 8300 block of Acoma Court and learned that on Saturday, Jason Martinez, 39, had placed a child in a time out facing a corner. Martinez then allegedly walked behind the child and “smacked” the child twice in the head, causing the child’s head to hit the wall, resulting in two bruises on the forehead. Jason Martinez was arrested for investigation of child abuse, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
