YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL WINS FIRST CIF ROUND

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans volleyball team beat Colony High School in their first-round CIF Match yesterday. They won the match in five sets. Head Coach Darrell Sterling said freshman outside hitter EJ Day had 20 kills on just 25 attempts, seven service aces, 15 digs and one block. Riley Vallo had 13 kills on 16 attempts. Julia Conrad had nine kills on 15 attempts. Middle blocker Emily Vigrass had six kills and four blocks. Senior setter Becky Messaros and junior Setter Alessa Luckino split the setting duties. Becky with 22 assists and Alessa had 15. Libero Becca Dumas had 24 digs and 31 receptions. Their next CIF game is at home tomorrow; come out and support your Lady Trojans.

The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycat tennis team finished the season at 12-5 overall and placed third in the DeAnza League. The Ladycats played the Wildcats of Paloma Valley on Tuesday and lost 2 to 16. Coach Bill Shay said the Ladycats had a great season and should be proud of their accomplishments.

Alicia Gilchrist won one of her sets and Sherolyn Alconaba/Danny Morrissey won one of their sets.
