YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL LOSES A HEARTBREAKER

The Yucca Valley High School varsity Trojan football team lost a heart breaker again, 28-32, against the Rattlers of Rancho Mirage High School. The lead bounced back and forth between the two teams and ultimately ended with the Rattlers. 

Trojan offense was led by Elijah Lynch, who completed 12 of 16 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 61 yards rushing and one touchdown for the night. Caleb Robinson carried the load for offense with 21 carries for 131 yards and one touchdown. Albert Montes-Reyes and Seth Nounnan shared a pair of touchdowns. The offense had a total of 356 yards on the night. 

On the defensive side of the ball, Ian Munger had nine tackles and Montes-Reyes had eight tackles for the Trojans. Joseph Jennings and Steven Rosales added an interception each to the defense. 

The Trojans’ defeat brings the varsity record to 6-2 overall and 1-2 in league play. This Friday’s game will be senior night as the Trojans take on the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles.
 
The junior varsity Trojans came away with another victory scoring 38 points to Rancho Mirage’s 14 points. At the end of the first quarter, the Trojans were down 14-8 but made a comeback, holding Rancho Mirage scoreless the last three quarters of the game.  This win makes the junior varsity record 7-1 overall and 2-1 in league.
