YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GOES TO 7-0

The Yucca Valley High School Trojan football team moved to a perfect 7-0 as they beat Desert Mirage 60-16 Friday night. Sixty points are the most points scored by a Trojan team since 2005. Coach Tim Cannavo said both Josh Tierney and Rene Gamboa led the defense with 10 tackles and one forced fumble each. Joey Rutherford forced a fumble, then recovered it and returned the fumble for a defensive touchdown. Shayne Saiza and Eric Salazar both returned kickoffs for touchdowns. This gives the Trojan defense and special teams a total of seven touchdowns this season. On offense, Bradley Soares completed 12 of 14 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns. Logan Vallo had 139 yards receiving with one TD and Gabe Sosa had the other two TDs. The Trojans travel to Big Bear on Saturday to face the Bears who are also 2-0 in league play.
