YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL BEATS DESERT HOT SPRINGS

The Yucca valley High School Trojans baseball teams traveled to Desert Hot Springs Tuesday afternoon for their first league game and came home with a win. Coach Brian Schoenborn said in the second inning the Trojans hit a series of singles by junior Travis Shartel, junior Zach Schoenborn, junior Eric Hale, and sophomore Desmond Delgado, which put two runs on the board. In the fourth inning, another single by Delgado was matched by big brother senior Dovian Delgado, Tim Parker, sophomore Anthony Gutierrez, and Shartel, which scored another two runs. In the sixth inning, hits by Desmond Delgado, Gutierrez, Shartel, and a fly by senior Jared Hudson scored another two runs. The Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles managed five runs in the sixth by stringing a few hits together, but the Trojans added two more runs in the top of the seventh, with hits by senior Luis Estrada, and Desmond Delgado. Junior Tim Parker pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts and only one walk. Final score 8-5, Trojans.
 
The Junior Varsity played to a 4-4 tie.
