WOMAN ARRESTED ABOARD MARINE BASE FOR VIOLATING RESTRAINING ORDER

Just a day after she was in a Joshua Tree court to request a modification to her felony probation for spousal abuse, a Cathedral City woman was arrested Wednesday on the Marine Corps base for violating a restraining order. Six weeks ago, Viola Jackson-Gentry, 19, began fighting with her former boyfriend, a Marine, on the Combat Center. She was arrested and in early September she was served with a restraining order, and later pleaded guilty to felony spousal abuse. As part of her sentencing, Jackson-Gentry agreed to enroll in a year-long batterer’s program. About 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were called to the base again because Jackson-Gentry was bothering her ex-boyfriend, and she was becoming hostile toward military police. Viola Jackson-Gentry was arrested on suspicion of violating her restraining order, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $50,000.
